SALMA HAYEK LAUNCHES BEAUTY RANGE!

10 May 2011

Salma Hayek is undoubtedly one beautiful lady and now it appears that we can get in on a few of her best-kept secrets as she launches brand new makeup line “Nuance.”  Word on the street says that the 45-year-old Mexican beauty couldn’t be more passionate about this latest endeavour which she’s been working on for the past 10 years. At the US launch on Monday, Salma explained that her grandmother was a cosmetologist who studied at the famous Vichy Labs, but also combined her scientific studies with Native American and Mayan remedies. Hayek’s aim was thus to create a range that would make these natural family secrets the cornerstones of the collection. 'I took three years off my [acting] career to work on this,' she explained in an exclusive interview with WWD. 'This is not something that required 14 hours. Nooo, baby. This has been a full-time job.'

Interestingly, Hayek has also made the decision to make her range the first mainstream (as opposed to high end), line supported by a celebrity and we love her all the more for it.  'It is possible to create extraordinary product for a low price…A lot of products don’t even cost a lot to make. I wanted to make simply the best product and give everyone access to the good stuff.'  Salma, who claims to have never had as much as an injection to preserve that spectacularly photogenic face, has relied upon product alone for her entire life, making her the ideal person to work on a project like this.  In fact, the lovely lady is convinced that she has developed several items that rival the most expensive, technologically advanced products on the market.

Price points range from $7.99 to $19.99 and we’re just hoping the range makes it to the UK soon because it’s estimated Nuance Salma Hayek will generate $35 million in first-year sales. And that, dear friends is what you call a success.
