Perfecting BareMinerals' Swirl.Tap.Buff Mantra!

06 May 2011

Last night, Grazia was invited to the launch of the fabulous St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and what a beautiful hotel it is [above]. The grand façade is both imposing and impressive nestled between St Pancras station and the British Library on Euston Road. It’s a building seeped in history, playing host to the first ever smoking room in Europe where women could publicly light up, to being the setting for our favourite Spice Girls video, Wannabe.

Of course, for such a dazzling event, we needed to look picture perfect as well. During our lunch break we headed down to Bare Escentuals on Neal Street to help them celebrate 35 years of cult beauty brand BareMinerals by allowing them to work their magic on us. We were given a step by step lesson in how to create a flawless complexion using their award-winning 100% pure bareMinerals make-up range and following the Swirl.Tap.Buff mantra.
BareMinerals are free from preservatives, talc, oil, fragrance and other harmful chemicals while still offering amazing coverage. In fact, the powders are so light that you don’t feel like you are wearing any make-up at all. They also claim that it’s so pure, you can even sleep in it which we like to think we’d never do, but in the interest of science and for the benefit of our esteemed readers, we put this to the test. The result?! Well, there is no evidence that we slept in our make-up – no spots, no creases – our skin felt surprisingly comfortable. We’d even go as far as to say we could have got away with not washing our faces at all before heading to the office this morning but that would be, well, just wrong.

Challenge number two was to attempt to recreate the look ourselves. We swirled, tapped and buffed as instructed and are pleased to report that we look fresh faced and glowy and not at all like we’ve spent the night at a swanky hotel party. All in all, we have been totally converted – the application process seems fiddly (primer, foundation, contour, set, blush) but once you get the hang of it, it’s easy to achieve that sort of air-brushed effect seen on models in magazines which frankly, is worth the effort.
So happy birthday to BareMinerals and happy days (and sleepless nights) for us!
