Oscar de la Renta launches first fragrance in ten years... via Facebook
Forget exclusive launch parties and expensive advertising campaigns, Oscar de la Renta has chosen to launch his first fragrance in 10 years via Facebook, generating buzz by giving away samples to those who “like” the brand’s page. ODLR describe the scent as a floral oriental with notes of jasmine, orange flower, musk and vetiver…and samples that were being handed out backstage at the brand’s AW2011 show in February went down at absolute storm with models…and us for that matter.
Karlie Kloss said 'It does smell amazing - I want more..! It's quintessentially Oscar - really classic and elegant.' Enough said.
Esprit d’Oscar is the first scent released by the label since it reacquired its fragrance license in January 2010, following an 18-month legal dispute with its American distributor, L’Oreal. Mr. de la Renta, who founded his label in 1965, launched his first fragrance, Oscar, in 1977 - It went on to become a best-seller in over 70 countries, and was followed by fragrances including So de la Renta, Rosamor, Volupte and Intrusion - his last fragrance before the L'Oreal fall-out.
