This genius initiative is currently only happening in the US, but truly brilliant it is and maybe, just maybe, MAC might do something similar over Blighty way soon... Pretty please?
Make up addicts are about to get a new outlet for their obsession as MAC launches their MAC Me Over contest. The U.S-based competition will go live with a dedicated microsite, www.macmeover.com on November 15th and will tap into the brand’s fan base to find a "real person" face for the A/W 2011 colour collection. Entrants (who must be 18 or over) will be asked to submit a photo or video of themselves using the phrase “MAC me over because…”, completing it with serious amounts of “style, heart and soul,” according to James Gager, the creative director of MAC Cosmetics worldwide.
“People sometimes have the perception that you can only get crazy, intense makeup from MAC,” said Gager. “But we can also give you the most flattering makeup possible. We wanted to showcase the versatility of the brand, and it sounded like fun to have lots of people tell us why they’d like a MAC makeover. We’re hoping we get entries which truly reflect our creed: all races, all ages, all sexes. This contest isn’t about who is the greatest looking — it is about who has the best style.”
MAC senior makeup artists will be tweeting about the contest, sharing insights and tips as they do so.
Entries for the contest will be accepted until 11:59 pm on the 20th December at which point they will be judged by an expert panel led by Gager. Six winners will then be selected and flown to New York City to be photographed for the brand’s A/W 2011 campaign, with an image that will be showcased at MAC stores and counters throughout the world. Winners will be announced in August 2011.
LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.
Would you guys like to see this competition in the UK?
