Perfume is sprayed on the seats of guests ahead of the Julien Macdonald show
Forget cocktails and canapés pre-fashion show. At London Fashion Week, no less than two brands fragranced their show venues before guests arrived. At Richard Nicoll, Michael Boadie’s new scent Scarlet Oud filled the Topshop Venue, while at Julien Macdonald, a mix of Jo Malone Jasmine and Mint Cologne, £68 and Red Roses Cologne, £68 was spritzed for a truly English olfactory treat.
'For my summer 2011 the show venue was sprayed with two scents,’ Julien told us. ‘One a light and refreshing mix of jasmine and mint and the second a heavier, richer fragrance of English red roses. Combined, they evoked a heady scent reminiscent of English gardens in high summer. I really wanted to bring the outside in and set the tone of this collection.’ How genius? We’re predicting that this is a trend that will become a catwalk staple. So who do you reckon we’ll be spritzing next season?
