Ever since Emma Watson had that chic little haircut, the race was inevitably ON amongst Grazia staffers to be the first person to get the pixie crop.
And this morning, our Fashion News Editor Kay Barron arrived in the offices rocking a sleek jet-black elfin cut that had everyone ooh-ing and ahh-ing.
Barron had previously had a glossy Louise Brooks bob for about seven years, and was trying to grow it out when pixie fever hit. 'Short hair just looks more modern' says Barron who will be wearing hers with her A/W '10 uniform of five inch heels, maxi skirts and cropped biker jackets.
The cut is a particularly bold move considering this isn't Barron's first encounter with really short hair; 'I had a cropped style when I was 15, and it was awful - with a step at the back and a centre-parting; and growing it out was a nightmare'.
But inevitably, fashion won out and Barron's regular hairstylist Owen Marshall at Sixteen, W1 was (eventually) talked into doing the 'do, with directions from the Fashion Editor herself; 'I didn't want my cut to be as short and forehead-exposing as Emma Watson's - but I do love her hair.' And while we think this style is more Michelle Williams in Venice than Emma Watson in LA, Barron claims her actual hair icon is her Mum, who has 'a slightly shorter version of this cut and looks amazing.' Awww.
It's not unusual for our Fashion and Beauty teams to change their 'dos in time for the Shows. We'll keep you posted with any other hair updates...
