You may recall that last week, we started showing you our series of videos that we had filmed with perfume god Roja Dove as he gave us a guided tour of Harrods’ incredible new fragrance exhibition The Perfume Diaries.
Today, we give you the next instalment of his ultimate history of perfume - the 1900s , the decade when the fragrance houses began to realise, as perfume legend Francois Coty said; ‘a perfume needs to attract the eye as well as the nose’ – enter jewellery designer Rene Lalique and whole new era of beautiful perfume bottles.
But we’ll let the exhibition’s curator himself explain…
[oh, and once again we feel we should warn about the erm, 'reportage' style camerawork, but do stick with it, because Roja is raaather fascinating).
