Christopher Bailey may be kicking himself this morning. Just last night Burberry announced that pouty model Rosie Huntington-Whitely would be the new face of the Brit label's A/W'10 campaign, replacing actress Emma Watson, who has fronted the luxury label's advertising for the past two seasons. But this morning, pictures have appeared that show the Harry Potter star has got herself a completely adorable new look. Following in the footsteps of actresses Michelle Williams, Carey Mulligan, and Mia 'Alice' Wasikowska, Watson has chopped off her shoulder-length wavy hair into a super-cool ultra-short pixie crop.
"Yes, I cut my hair off a few days ago! I love it -- feels incredible. Hope you like it!" Watson tweeted last night. The black and white photo is her new Facebook profile pic. The actress also commented "I've wanted to do this for years and years; it's the most liberating thing ever", possibly referring to the fact that earlier this year, she finally finished shooting the last of the eight films in the Harry Potter series - a decade-long contract which would almost certainly have prohibited her from drastically changing her hair while playing muggle school girl Hermione Granger.
Mia Farrow and Jean Seberg
This year is the 50th anniversary of the pixie crop - in 1960 it made its breakthrough performance in the French New Wave cinema classic A Bout De Souffle, or Breathless, on actress Jean Seberg. Since then, the chic, sharp crop has been a hot favourite of Hollywood A-listers, including a young, freckly-faced Mia Farrow, who Watson now disarmingly resembles.
