The Tantalist Interviews Rosie Huntington Whiteley!

21 July 2010

You've heard of The Sartorialist; the clever fashion blog that covets ordinary people's everyday style and snaps them on the street, a bit like Grazia's very own Style Hunter. Now check out The Tantalist, James Read's self-tanning super site. So what can you expect from a fake-tanning website? As much as we'd love to say you'll be showered in a healthy glow which emits from your computer screen, sadly that's not the case...YET!

But what you can expect is independent reviews on the hottest new fake tan products from the tanning expert himself, Q&A's with celebrities (this week Heidi Range from the Sugababes spills her fake tanning secrets) to supermodels like Rosie Huntington Whitely (see below) and beauty editors on what tricks, tips and products they swear by. Not to mention, fake-tan trends spotted at the coolest events from festivals to backstage at fashion week. And according to James, the next big thing in tanning for next season is the white-out tan, a porcelain glow set to be huge in autumn.

The Tantalist Interviews Rosie Huntington Whiteley

International Model and Vogue cover girl Rosie Huntington Whiteley is best known for walking the Victoria's Secrets runway and being the star of the Burberry advertising campaign. Rosie was named "Model of the Year" at the 2009 Elle Style Awards and recently appeared in the acclaimed 2010 Pirelli Calendar. Rosie has recently landed a lead role in the new Transformers 3 movie, so, as Hollywood awaits, she reveals to The Tantalist her tanning and fashion secrets.

What Tanning brands do you swear by?
I love Victoria Secret’s Bare Bronze and St Tropez.

What’s your favorite make up brand?
I love Guerlain, Laura Mercier and of course Chanel.

Do you use bronzers to enhance your tan?
I use Guerlain bronzer and I love Benefit Hoola bronzing powder, it’s the most natural looking bronzer out there and it does not contain a glitter.

What fashion shows are you looking forward at this coming LFW?
I can’t wait for Burberry and Matthew Williamson.

Do you think tanning has become more fashionable?
Of course, more women now realise that they look great with a tan, they also look and feel sexier. It’s also much healthier and safer than going in the sun and using sunbeds. Looking after your skin and health has become more fashionable. I love to be tanned before I go to award ceremonies and parties. Self Tanning is the way forward.

What fashion accessory can’t you live without?
OMG my Les Chiffoniers leather trousers, I live in them. I wear them everywhere for shopping, dinner and nights out. I also love my Chanel hand bags and of course my Burberry Mac.

Who’s your favorite designer?
I would have to say Isabel Marant and Dior.

Do you find more models are now being tanned for fashion shoots?
Yes especially for me, as a Victoria Secrets model, I like to be tanned when I shoot lingerie. It gives me the confidence boost, I feel healthy and of course I look great. I know my fellow models feel the same way. Tanning is quick and easy, you can get a tan and go straight onto a shoot. The tan makes your skin glow on camera.

You must have had many tans in your job. What’s the best tan you have had?
I have tans all the time as its important with my job. The best tan I have ever had is with James Read at his salon at the Agua Spa. His tans are so natural and they always fade so evenly. Also when he tans me I can go straight out with the tan on and I look amazing.

Modeling or Acting?
I would have to say both.
