This morning, over granary marmite toast and large jugs of PG tips, we debated whether we should be following the celebs right now and going from working our trusty blonde to 'Blonette', a phrase Grazia coined after spotting the trend emerging last summer. Yes, you heard correctly… the term is hairstylist speak for the hair colour that is not quite blonde, and not quite brunette but a combination of the two.
US Hollywood colorist and stylist Kim Vo was recently quoted saying that "If blonde and brown were to have a love child, it would be bronde!" Vo paints select layers of the top of the hair with two different volumes of color lifting creams to get what he says is a sun-kissed look with tons of dimension and depth. In fact, the look is ideal for those who are perhaps too dark to go blonde but still what a sunkissed hue to their “do.” Plus, we love the way it seems to miraculously warm up skin tone.
Natalie Portman, SJP, Leighton Meester, Miley Cyrus and J-Lo have all successfully experimented with the trend of late so if you fancy getting your Blonette on, we recommend paying a visit to colour genius Sibi Bolan at Daniel Hersheson’s Harvey Nichols salon. An expert in making practically anyone - be they blonde or brunette - look like they’ve been sunning themselves on a yacht for a month, you just have to see this clever lady.
So what are your thoughts on the trend?
