Beauty Scoop: La la Lilac

03 June 2010

We love a nude lip but there’s just no ignoring the fact that they don’t work on everyone.  The lucky ones can use a beige mouth to bring our their eyes, showcase glowy, healthy skin and balance a sexy smoky eye. For others, the result can be a greyish washed out complexion, an entirely invisible mouth and a look that would fare you well in an audition for your local am dram society Adams Family production.

At a recent Revlon launch however, celeb makeup artist Gucci Westman suggested that a sheer lilac gloss is the perfect alternative for those who can’t work nude because it tones and pales down the red in the lips in the same way but contains blue (as opposed to red like nude), which neutralises pink in the skin tone, making you appear more tanned, while the whites of your eyes will seem brighter.  It's always handy to know such things....

Head to Revlon, Illamasqua, Barry M, MAC and ME ME ME Cosmetics for our fave takes on the shade.
