Those of us still able to move our foreheads at Grazia HQ raised a quizzical eyebrow when we read that lovely Kylie Minogue has decided to eschew botox in favour of Pond's Cold Cream. Yes - that retro classic, which has remained a beauty store fixture for so long that it has seen entire ranges of John Frieda products come and go, has won all-out praise from Princess Kylie (she’s not the first celebrity to hail the cream's benefits – remember when we spoke to uber-model Karlie Kloss backstage at the shows earlier this year?)
In a new interview, Kylie reveals that she began to use the £3.99 beauty staple on the advice of her mother Carol, 'It's really changed my skin,' she told the News of the World. 'It's all I really use. It's such an old classic." According to the manufacturers, Pond's Cold Cream "cleans thoroughly and gently," as well as "adding essential moisture to dry skin" which admittedly sounds good. But is it good enough to give Kylie the flawless wrinkle-free complexion she has become famous for?
So far, so unconvinced. That was until we spotted this image of little Kylie with her aforementioned mother. Yes. Her Mother. Pictured in 2008 when she was 65 by our workings, Carol looks faaabulous and has the kind of amazing glowing skin that we pay way more than £3.99 to try and achieve. In fact, she looks so good that we reckon Ponds should totally make the pair of them ambassadors for the brand. Or at the very least offer them a lifetime of free cleanser.
So, Kylie's great genetics to one side (that being something we can't emulate, sadly) we're totally popping to Boots to stock up.
