It’s Monday lunchtime and we’re waiting for the two new MAC Viva Glam ambassadors, Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper to be interviewed by Sharon Osbourne - yes we know, what a fabulous combination! So eventually after an hour and a half, two of the globe's most iconic (and really rather wacky) women in music took the stage to answer questions submitted by fans around the world on the issues concerning women, HIV and AIDS. It was clear that the issue was close to all three on stage with Cyndi talking about losing a friend to AIDS and Sharon speaking about a family member living with HIV.
And then came the juicy questions we all want to know the answers to. ‘Even Lady Gaga can be celibate, I’m on the road the whole time so I’ve chosen to be single,’ said La G about her love life. Cyndi also laid her views down plain and simple: ‘don’t be a knucklehead, protect yourself’. Girl power!
Revealing the new lipsticks joining the Viva Glam range, Lady Gaga explained that the shade she created was based on one of MAC’s most popular shades - ‘Pink Nouveau’ - which she used to buy as a treat to make herself feel better when she was a struggling, unknown singer whilst Cyndi had her heart set on creating a deep red shade. All sales from the Viva Glam lipstick range goes to the MAC Aids fund.
Available from the 15th March www.macaidsfund.org, £12.50, Viva Glam has raised over £160 million so far.
