All hail the DIY beauty fix!

12 February 2010

Now whilst we’re less than partial to putting up kitchen cupboards, there’s nothing quite getting creative (and your hands dirty) to make an individual DIY beauty fix – like these customised kirby grips. ‘I first did this when I couldn’t find the right fluro coloured grips for Henry Holland’s first show,’ explains top hairstylist Adam Reed of the specially created clips in bright red. ‘Find your ideal colour of car spray paint (yes, really – get your man to pick some up on his next trip to Halfords) and buy some Boots blending hair grips because the matte holds the paint. Get a paper bag and line them up across the top so there’s a gap in between each clip and spray away. You can also use plastic hair combs and add some plastic flowers if you feel really creative. I did that for Diane Kruger at a premiere recently in antique gold that matched her dress.’ Now if only we could find a way to DIY that designer dress too…
