Yesterday, we reported on Vicky B's Chanel-inspired half-done hair do and today we turn to the top knot, complete with perfectly placed kirby grips, that she sported on American Idol, proving that VB really was taking notes during last season's shows. Remember those face-lifting top knots at Marc Jacobs that we so loved here at Grazia Daily? Created by Guido (aka: the hair maestro), the tightly wound buns were inspired by performers and dancers: 'a simple yet dramatic hair do that showed off the neck details from the collection', apparently.
To attempt the top knot at home, Guido talked us through the step-by-step top knot process so do try this at home, kids. Firstly, use a bristle brush like a Mason Pearson to pull hair tightly on top of the head and secure firmly with an elastic (tip your head back or upside down to make it easier and ensure maximum height). Next, use Redken's Glass 01 smoothing serum to twist the ponytail and wind it back into itself, securing with pins. Finish off with a spritz of hairspray to tame the wispy flyaways or do like Vic does and use big silver kirby grips to keep everything in place. Et voila!
