Not that we’ve spent aaaall day today gawping at the photos from yesterday’s Golden Globes (we so have)… but after we’d finished scrutinising every ruffle and jewel of the A-list’s couture ensembles, we noticed something else that was equally arresting – the Golden Globes Skin Tone Smackdown.
We all know that pale and interesting is coming back (perfect for all those powdery pastel shades for spring 2010) but equally, we’ll admit that as soon as we need to bare an arm or shoulder, we still automatically turn to the fake tan to add a healthy glow.

What was interesting about last night’s red carpet complexion parade was that many usually porcelain pale A-listers , such as Courtney Cox, Emily Blunt and Kate Winslet, were looking seriously tanned. And the usually olive-skinned Penélope Cruz was decidedly orange.

Meanwhile, the indie crowd – from January Jones, to Carey Mulligan and Maggie Gyllenhaal – were working the whiter than white look.
What do you think? Is white the new orange?
