Hmmm, is it just our imagination or is it in fact the case that the less men know on a subject, the more vocal and opinionated they are about it?
Case in point: today’s survey which claims that men prefer women to wear less make-up. According to the poll by skincare company St Ives, 'For many guys, make-up can act as a barrier between them and their partner, and it seems they simply prefer women to go natural…'
Now don’t get us wrong, we too have recoiled in horror at Leighton Meester's inexplicable Heath-Ledger-as-The-Joker-esque make-up of late, but, in our experience, when men say they prefer girls not to wear make-up, what they actually mean is they prefer girls who are so achingly model-perfectly beautiful they don’t need to wear any make-up. Hurumph.
Anyway, we asked the Grazia beauty girls for their top recommendations for the barest of bare faces, and they tipped Nars Belle de Jour Velvet Matte Lip Pencil £17 ‘with some 8-hour cream over the top for a perfect natural nude lip that suits everyone’ .
And Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser, £55, ‘which evens out skin tone perfectly without looking like you are wearing make-up – it’s not nearly as thick as a foundation’.
But maybe we’ll ditch the natural look and just date boys like Russell Brand who might steal our eyeliner…
