Despite turning 40 earlier this year, Jennifer Aniston has one of the best bodies in Hollywood and this week she announced it’s all thanks to yoga.
‘It’s completely changed my life,’ said Jen on the introduction of Yogalosophy, the new fitness DVD from her yoga teacher and long-time friend Mandy Ingber. ‘It’s one of the most fun workouts I’ve ever had. So work hard, because it will totally pay off.’
Jennifer – who was once so curvy she admitted her dad said of her bottom “you could serve tea off it,” – hired Mandy in the mid-nineties, and they’ve worked out together ever since.
‘Yoga is fantastic for stripping excess body fat,’ says celebrity trainer James Duigan, who trains Elle MacPherson. ‘It’s no wonder Jen’s in such great shape. Yoga lengthens and tones muscles, creating a long lean look, with sexy – but not scary – muscles. Plus i t reduces stress levels, which stops your body depositing fat around your middle (studies show stress causes tummy fat).’
Here are the top yoga trends for 2010:
*Couples Yoga – huge in the States and due here later this year, it involves using each other’s bodies to lean on during moves.
*Anti-Gravity Yoga – this involves getting deeper stretches by hanging off equipment suspended from the ceiling. UK gyms are expected to roll this one out by summer.
*Doggie yoga – yes really! Gyms in LA have started offering yoga classes involving their client’s pet pooches. We’re really hoping this one doesn’t catch on over here….
