This weekend’s X Factor shows just might have been our favourites so far this season… loved Queen, LOVED Stacey and even Jedward’s performance was surprisingly enjoyable (does anyone else think that they’re getting, dare we say it, better? The running beauty theme of this weekend? None other than the long, thick, glossy ponytail…
Cheryl set the trend on Saturday with what appeared to be a take on the ponytail created by Wella Professional’s creative director of style, Eugene Souleiman, at the recent SS'09 DKNY show in NYC. Smooth, sleek and scraped back at the front, thick and glossy in the ponytail’s length, we have to applaud the catwalk awareness going on here!
With Dannii’s undeniably enormous range of hairstyles this X Factor season in mind, we can't deny our surprise when she emerged on Sunday sporting none other than a long, glossy pony. Yes, it was softer and more structural than Cheryl’s, but no amount of crimping, parting or side-swept sections could hide the resemblance. And then shock, horror... Shakira burst onto the stage with ponytail number three!
But don’t worry, Dannii and Shakira, we can’t see ourselves being able to resist copying this look either. To achieve it at home, clip-in extensions are an absolute must (after all, no one likes a spindly pony, it’s all about the volume you know…).
