WOW! It’s WAH nails!

We’re not getting much work done today (and that’s only partly because of our Halloween party hangovers). We keep looking down at our keyboards and being totally mesmerised by our new nails.

Grazia has gone bananas about Wah – the cult East London nail salon. And looking at the pictures here, you can see why. Not only does Wah promise to 'translate fashion trends into fingertip art', but having a Wah manicure is the most delightful experience; choose the pattern (or get some great advice), and add your own sprinkles from the tiny pots full of pearls, stars, tiny pumpkins, designer logos (yes!), and rhinestones. The salon even offers a beyond bling Swarovski manicure for £150

The salon was started by Arena Homme Plus stylist, the super-poised and ultra-sleek Sharmadean Reid, who says Wah is the result of her 'love of graphic nail art and my inability to get truly fashionable nails at my local salons'. She describes the Kingsland Road salon as '[some]where creative women can find like- minded friends while having their nails made as cool as they are'.

One of those cool women is top fashion PR and Colette blogger Mandi Lennard, who has been going to Wah since it opened and says, 'Shar is one of the most intelligent and sharp people I know – saying she is highly creative is a gross understatement.'

So what did Wah’s most loyal customer get on her last visit? 'I asked her for pale blue, pale pink and lemon camo[uflage] and she mixed the colours specially for me – got it on my toes too – fun.'

And, from today, for one week only, Wah is opening a pop-up salon in Selfridges, with designs inspired by the store’s autumn/winter fashion; from very Louis Vuitton leopard print, to Erdem-inspired florals. Appointments are disappearing fast, so book now!

wahnails@selfridges.co.uk; prices from £25 for nail art and £50 for extensions.

  • it sucks that most of these cool new things only happen in london - it needs to be recognised that fabulosity occurs through the UK!

  • A serious rip off, there are loads of nail bars not far from this one which do better designs and for half the price. These designs look likes ones I was getting on the same road in Dalston 10 years ago. They look like a child did them.
Nail art has been big for years, but I guess the hoxton crowd have found it now so its news. How funny

  • im dying to know what other cheapo nail bars in Dalston could do a cupcake on your nail...if they even speak english that is...
