MAC make-up artist – and guest blogger for Grazia Daily over Fashion Weeks – Neil Young is back with another look at what happens backstage at Paris Fashion Week.
Well what a fabulous day I've had today! Started the day at the incredible RM by Roland Mouret show. The make-up was headed by my favourite make-up artist Val Garland. Val created a beautiful eye make-up using a mixture of Teddy and Taupe eye pencils and then blended Studio Fix foundation around the edges to create a warm halo around the eye. Silver Dusk powder added highlights to the inner corner of the eyes and tops of cheekbones. The clothes were stunning as always (he's an architectural genius) and the girls looked fierce!
After the show I headed straight to Elie Saab. After the tenth cup of coffee and waiting two hours for the girls to arrive I finally started make-up – not in my makeup chair but in hair (for a change!) as there was a lot of preparation involved. The makeup was simple but stunning and involved a solid black line around the eye using Smoulder eye pencil and Carbon eyeshadow layed over the top. The skin was lightened slightly using foundation and very matte! Even Dita Von Teese and Nelly Furtado made an appearance backstage looking amazing! And the clothes? Well they were beautiful, elegant and stylish. After the show I headed straight back to the hotel bar (I've been on my feet for 13 hours by now) and with only one show left this season, I'm dreaming of my own bed back home!
