From New York to Paris, Neil Young - the amazing make-up artist for MAC - has been blogging backstage for Grazia Daily to give you the beauty scoop on all the goings-on behind-the-scenes. Find out what's been going on in Paris...
Well what a start to Paris fashion week! Straight into shows and my first was Anne Valerie Hash. The makeup was soft and dreamy- lots of highlights and a very fine sweep of Gold Metal Pigment was used very close to the lash line. The venue was beautiful but as always the backstage area was tiny and as you can imagine we were all sitting on top of each other! I'm relieved it was a fairly simple makeup create by the incredible Alex Box.
After the show was finished, it was a quick dash to the Palais de Tokyo for the amazing Gareth Pugh show. I saw some incredible creations being worn and that was just on the front row! I have never seen so many fashionistas in one room but boy, does Gareth know how to put on a show! Backstage, I got involved with the hair and makeup that was just as awesome as the clothes! Alex Box created the grey stone faces for the girls and boys. This was a mixture of Micronized Airbrush Foundation, Scene eyeshadow for contouring and Cherry lip pencil under the eye to give the models an eerie feel. Hardly Spring/Summer you might say, but then that's fashion for you! It was already at least 150 degrees backstage, add in twenty hair dryers and you have an oven to work in! There were so many people screaming and shouting and the pressure was on - the show went on half an hour late but it was incredible nonetheless!
Now I'm off to wash my brushes and get ready for one of the sexiest shows in Paris... Balmain! Check back here for more beauty updates from Paris Fashion Week.
