Your new autumn make-up bag starts here!

11 September 2009

New York Fashion Week is in full force, meaning the Grazia fashion team is busy scrambling to update their A/W make-up looks to get them through fashion month (after NY comes London, Milan and Paris – phew!). Cue the beauty desk. Here’s our top five make-up updates for autumn…

Get into false eyelashes
Every fashionista worth their stilettos knows that fake eyelashes are a must-have on the front row because of their anti-ageing, eye defining powers. Try these and you won't be disappointed. Eylure Naturalites Intense, £5.15

Splurge on a second-skin foundation
It’s all about flawless skin right now. So, invest in a phenomenal foundation to give your look the edge. This magic formula not only takes the tiredness out of hard-working skin, but keeps you looking bright and dewy all day. BY TERRY Teint Delectation – Pumping Fluid Foundation, £50.09

Go off-piste with your lip colour
Bright lips are a must (it’s all about being noticed), but rather than the obvious red, update your look by going a bit off-beat, like a deep gothic plum à la Taylor Momsen. Try Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Va Va Violet, £7.13

Upgrade your under-eye concealer
No self-respecting fashion editor would dare to be seen with bags under her eyes on the front row. For the fash-pack and we mere mortals, there’s no better fix for tired under-eyes than Bobbi Brown Eye Brightener. It’s a five-second eyelift in a pot – seriously! £22.

Rock ’80s power shadow
Browns and taupe eyeshadow, circa Brooke Shields and Marie Helvin, is this season’s must-have for eyes. Go for easy colours you can blend and smudge right up to the brow line for a powerful look that works day and night. The best? Myface Blingtone Trio in Band of Gold, £9.78.
