Forget Christmas, this year it seems it's all about Ramadan gifting. Selfridges has seen sales of their exclusive and more expensive fragrances almost double in the last month as Middle Eastern customers flood to London to pick up their end-of-Ramadan gifts. They clearly want to give only the best, exclusive fragrances. The department store has had to call in emergency stock of Middle Eastern specific fragrances such as Trish McEvoy’s Precious Oud, Tom Ford and Chanel have seen fragrances flying off their counters and Boadicea the Victorious received one order of nearly 90 bottles (a snip at £125 each). Meanwhile, in the wrapping department, they’ve also been busier than at Christmas – so much so they’ve had to bring in more wrapping material. At least there's someone shopping and keeping the economy afloat!
