Beauty newsflash: is this the end of mascara?

17 August 2009

Mascara is probably our absolute go-to beauty item every morning. And despite every promise that we'll never have to use the wonder stick again – perming, tinting, false ones, we've tried them all – we always return to it. But, as we revealed in Grazia a few weeks ago, researchers in France have now developed a gel that extends the length of time individual eyelashes grow before they fall out, meaning fuller, thicker lashes for longer. Dr Patricia Pineau, scientific director at L'Oréal, who plan on making their new product available as an over-the-counter cosmetic, has said that ‘by increasing the duration of the growing phase the eyelashes would grow longer while postponing the start of the resting phase... which means there are more lashes on the eyelid fringe'. We interpret that as 5 more minutes in bed! [Telegraph]
