At the Veuve Clicquot polo event yesterday, we almost didn't recognise singer VV Brown. Usually sporting a big quiff, she turned her back on her signature look in favour of a more grown-up hair style, in keeping with the event. And with a centre parting and almost dead straight hair, VV Brown looked très chic as she watched the polo. We'd almost forgotten how good straight hair looks after the backlash on poker-straight hair. So, let's take a leaf out of VV's book and bring back one of the easiest to create hair styles: keep a bit of root volume by avoiding putting your straighteners through the roots and start an inch and a half down your hair. This instantly updates the straight hair look. Protect your hair by using a heat protector spray or lotion and remember to set with simple hairspray to stop kinks, a big no-no for straight hair.
