HOW TO do the perfect manicure

17 March 2009

We busy-bee Grazia beauty girls are ashamed to admit that we've barely had a chance to even look at our nails recently, let alone give them the proper TLC they deserve. So, for some super-speedy nail tips, we caught up with nail guru Marian Newman, who showed us just how to achieve the perfect mani with her Ink polishes. And just to keep us totally bang on trend, we asked Marian to demonstrate the new two-tone 'double-dipped' nail look, which we saw backstage this season at shows such as Meadham Kirchoff and Osman Yousefzada.

Step 1: Use one of Marian's oil pens to gently press oil into the cuticle and into any dry patches around the nails. This way you'll step up the moisture levels and be pushing your cuticles back at the same time.

Step 2: Use a conditioner-free (very important – this will help your polish stay on longer!) polish remover on your nails to prepare them.

Step 3: Take one of Marian's Ink pens (we'd go for Burnt Orange and sweep over the nail). The genius thing about these pens is that you can get polish on and around your fingers and then just wash it straight off with water afterwards! We then double up layers with a coat of Gold Leaf to create the perfect shade of what Marian calls 'champagne'. Ninety seconds later and we have rock hard nails to die for. Ta-da!
