Edwardian-chic beauty at Colette Dinnigan...

13 March 2009

Paris FW may have come to end, but we're still obsessing over the best of the beauty looks that we can't wait to channel next season. Up there on our list of favourites would have to be the Colette Dinnigan show where  make-up artist, Kay Montano, went for classic elegance when it came to making the models look the part. 'Colette's collection was full of fitted lace deisgns with an understated Edwardian feel,' Kay tells us. 'We wanted the girls to look and pure and sophisticated so I used minimal coverage on the skin, then pared down the colour of the lip. I kept skin well-powdered for an immaculate, 'finished' look then smudged black MAC eye pencil into the roots of the top lashes. Satin taupe and Night Devine shadows created just the right amount of smokiness.'   Over on hair, session stylist Neil Moodie was inspired by a Catherine Deneuve Belle du Jour look with a modern twist. 'I gave the girls a slick city-man parting using Bumble and Bumble Tonic Spray then tied the hair into a tight, symmmetrical ponytail just aobve the nape of the neck. Instead of wrapping it into a traditional chignon, I twisted it into an elongated roll shape before misting it with Bumble and Bumble Shine Spray for that extra glossy finish.' Understated glam and a new chignon shape - here we come..!
