Colour fever at Ungaro

The make-up inspiration was quite clearly to reflect the classic Emmanuel Ungaro elements: colour! Tom Pecheux for MAC created a face popping two-tone lip with MAC's Morange lipstick on the top lip and Violetta on the bottom lip which was also used to softly line the lips. ‘We wanted to keep the girls young, fresh and playful and this is why we chose to do a duo colour on the lips,' Tom told us backstage. ‘We also want colour in a crisis (read recession). As it's so dark at the moment we thought it would brighten things up – after all that's why colour TV was invented, as black and white was boring! It's also bringing a flavour of the 1980s without going all out with make-up which would make it too 1980s.' To stop the colour from transferring, the lips were gently powdered with MAC prep and prime powder. Skin was clean and matte (we noticed pots of Shiseido day moisture protection and MAC Charged Water being used on the models) with little foundation. Jimmy Paul for Bumble and bumble wanted the hair to look like an after thought: ‘As if the girls have gotten up late, put their hair in a bun in a hurry but it still just happens to look great. A bit like Kate Moss would do.' It was all down to Bumble and bumble's Thickening Spray which left a ‘ropey shine texture, for a little magic on the runway'. Easy, new season hair fix? We're in heaven.
