Despite insisting she was at The Young Victoria after-party as boyfriend ‘Rupert's handbag', Keira Knightley wowed the crowds in a Chanel Couture ensemble and some gorgeously subtle make-up. So we decided to catch up with Keira's make-up artist Kay Montano to find out just how she did it on the night.
1. The skin
'I began with just a tiny dab of Chanel Lift Lumiere to even out the tone around Keira's eyes, nose & chin area. Minimal coverage is key to approaching strong make-up in a rock chic way. Young, cool and sophisticated.'
2. The flush
'I powdered Keira's T zone only with Poudre Douce in Mimosa so that cheeks remained dewy. Add a touch of Fandango powder blusher for an entirely natural look.'
3.The eyes
'For the eyes I used Les Crayon Khol in Graphite liberally around Keira's entire eye area and smudged it in with my fingertips. This was followed by a smudging the same pencil in Noir next to the top lashes. Eyes were completed with a thick, elongated line of Ecriture De Chanel in Noir, finishing in a classic tick plus lashings of black Exceptionnel mascara.'
4.The Eyes
'Keira was wearing a gorgeous white Chanel outfit so we agreed to go for a smudgy smoky eye rather than my usual nude lip/dark eye combo. I decided on a 'just-eaten-cherries' stain because it works so beautifully with white. I completed the whole look with the cherry-stained lips which were created with Rouge Allure Laque in 76.'
