Five minutes with Sienna Miller’s make-up artist!

03 March 2009

Alex Box is literally the hottest name in make-up right now. Not only has she worked with some of our favourite designers (Peter Jensen, PPQ, Gareth Pugh...) but she is also responsible for making up the faces of A-listers such as Sienna and Claudia Schiffer. If that didn't keep her busy enough, she's also recently become the new creative director of the genius Illamasqua make-up brand... And yet she still had a few minutes to spare for us! Check out Alex's make-up tricks and trends for the new season and see how you can get in on the Illamasqua action below...

Grazia: What's the one product you never leave home without?

Alex: 'It has to be the Illamasqua Liquid Eye Liner in Shatter. It's really colour intense and the fine brush ensures you can get the detail right, like the '50s flick. It doesn't move whether you're crying to a slushy movie, or working up a sweat on the dance floor!'

G: Tell us one beauty rule we should break this season...

A: 'Don't stick to your natural lip line – think Joan Crawford in Mildred Pierce. Use the Illamasqua medium pencil in the shade closest to your lipstick colour to draw on a lip line outside of your natural one, then apply three layers of lipstick, stand back and make like vixen.'

G: What's your guilty beauty secret?

A: 'Natura Bisse products and champagne massages from beautiful boys!'

G: What's been your favourite look from the shows so far?

A: 'Un-naturally perfect skin and skyscraper lashes...'

Get into Illamasqua from 8-15 March in Selfridges when the brand famous for its colour-pop make-up will be doing free half-hour colour prescriptions with professional make-up artists. As well as advising you on which of the hottest S/S ‘09 colours will work for you, make-up artist Adam Sidwell (he's the man behind the Pussy Cat Dolls' make-up!) will be in-store from 12-14 March from 5-8pm teaching colour masterclasses. New season colour sorted!
