London Fashion Week: The beauty highlights

26 February 2009

We're still mourning the end of London Fashion Week. So we've trawled our notebooks to reflect on our favourite beauty moments – and the looks we're going to start perfecting right now...

I won't be getting my carnival spray out anytime soon but I did love the new hair butterflies at Peter Pilotto. Twisting the hair into a wet look figure-of-eight shape at the nape of the neck in that way is chic but modern. I'll also be channelling the butterfly vibe with giant hair accessories too. - Annabel Jones, Beauty Director

Watching Pat McGrath do make-up backstage is always very inspirational – she's so chatty, even when she has a whole cast of models to do! Her strong-eyed, heavy-browed look against pale skin at Aquascutum did it for me. - Liz Hambleton, Beauty Editor

My favourite moment was Julien Macdonald barking orders at make-up guru Charlotte Tilbury because the legs of his models just weren't tanned enough! - Lauren Murdoch-Smith, Assistant Beauty Editor

The Ashish lip! Poppy neon in pinks and blues with an ultra-exaggerated cupid's bow... It was cute, crazy, perfectly suited to the mood of the sequintastic collection. Whether I'll be brave enough to work the look myself come summer might be a different story though. - Bella Blissett, Style and Beauty Writer
