Beauty notes: Peter Pilotto

25 February 2009

The inspiration for the make-up at Peter Pilotto was late '80s/early '90s, according to make-up artist Ayami Nishimura. 'I wanted the look to be classic with a modern twist,' she told us backstage. 'I darkened the eye sockets with a maroon shadow then swept MAC Corduroy on top. To keep the emphasis on the eyes, I blocked out the natural colour of the eyes with foundation, then went heavy with the highlighter on the skin after prepping it with MAC Studio Sculpt.' Lips were kept to a natural shape but swept with a coral/orange colour that Ayami mixed up herself. It complemented the collection, which was awash with print and featuring the most genius giant earrings we've seen in a long while...
