It was all about the lips at Nathan Jenden's LFW show – as you can see from our backstage shots. Low-key eyes and minimal blush meant all focus was on the models' shocking pink mouths – and very OTM bouffed up hair. Mac's make up artist Makky, decided to give the girls 3 different looks-2 'fun colour' lips and 1 strong eye. As some of the models would be walking the catwalk with sunglasses on it was decided that they would have the lips emphasised and if they weren't donning them, the eyes were going to be the key feature. Lip 1-orangey red created with cherry red pencil, drawing a full round lip with no cupids bow and then filled in with mix of crimson and orange lip mix. Lip 2-working title Pro Promographic pencil in magenta was being tested backstage stage and then the lips were filled in with red and white lip mix, mixed together. The strong eye was smouldering along the lash line and lid and meticulously buffed until the perfect texture, shape and colour was created and the lip was left nude with foundation patted over them. Skin was perfected with studio sculpt foundation in the models natural pale skin tone.
The hair was a masterpiece-neil moody for bumble and bumble worked his magic hands again. 'It's a cross between the 40s victory roll and the 50s quiff-I'm calling it the victory quiff!' Prep was the key and again he used prep and thickening spray and then styling creme to create a matter, dryer texture. The products were power dried in with the models hair upside down. There were no combs and brushes in sight, just stylists hands and fingers the french pleat was rolled tightly up the back but not pinned so that the length was left and taken to the front for height and volume. 'It's higher than a roll but not as high as a quiff-a bit androgenus but still pretty' it was technical and brilliant, the side profiles of the models was fabulous-nice to see a 'do' again.
