LIVE: madness backstage at Margaret Howell!

Margaret Howell AW 09

The fashion editors are taking their seats front of house at Margaret Howell's A/W '09 show as we type. But we're backstage capturing the madness as it unfolds. The models are trickling in late from the Kinder Aggugini show earlier this morning. It was Ace Ventura hair and strong red eye make-up so slight panic as to how the girls are going to be transformed into ethereal beauties for Margaret Howell. Will they do it in time? Once de-Kindered, the hair is being plaited into French braids and they're applying cheeks that are just blush perfection. You're all going to want to have these! More soon....

UPDATE: Now we’ve survived the scrum – and we know the models made it out onto the catwalk done Margaret Howell style – we can fill you in on the details.
Sam Bryant for MAC told us he was inspired by 'super young girls who had got into their granddads' dressing up box'. Cheeks weren't rosy but a gorgeous soft candy pink, to look like they had no make-up on. ‘If they look like they've got make-up on the catwalk, we've failed!' The technique to create the look was turned upside down with lipstick in Saint Germaine (bright pink) being used on the cheeks and blended with a nude crème blusher which was also placed on the nose. The face was super dewy (little bit of face gloss and MAC studio sculpt foundation – Sam's current obsession) and crème blush in Sweet William was blended on the eyes and lips for a delicate wash of colour. Hair, created by Neil Moodie for Bumble and Bumble, was pretty and not too masculine. Bumble prep and thickening spray was power-dried into hair and a fat curling iron was taken through the mid lengths and ends to create the texture for the Dutch style braided up-do. The braids were then flattened at the end, making hair fatter and looser. ‘The flyaway elements keep it pretty,’ Neil said. Gorgeous!
