Amy Winehouse becomes the inspiration for the latest trend... tooth tattoos!

Ever wanted a tattoo but can't think of an original place to get yourself inked? Rumour has it that the latest tatt craze sweeping LA is teeth tattoos! Chief tooth artist, Steve Heward of the Heward Lab in Utah (www.toothartist.com), has been asked to do designs of everything from 'geese in flight' and Mickey Mouse to, er, Amy Winehouse! Steve uses ceramic stain and a one-haired brush to paint unique portraits on to crown and bridgework, then bakes and glazes the teeth to set the designs. The resulting work costs anything between $200 and $600, depending on the intricacy of the design, and can be shipped to the customer for fitting by his or her own dentist.
We were more than a little dubious about the trend when we heard about it so contacted our fave A list dentist, Dr Uchenna Okoye of London Smiling, to get the verdict. 'I think they're great fun,' said Dr Okoye a little hesitantly. 'But I wouldn't advise chiselling down your teeth for artistic reasons'.
Just as we thought. Still, if we ever met someone in a dark alley, we reckon flashing a toothy smile of Amy Winehouse would soon scare them off...

Just in time for party season, Do Okoye is offering the first Grazia reader to email London Smiling ( reception@londonsmiling.com ) and quote Grazia a free power whitening session worth £900!
