Go behind the scenes at Costume National

Ever wondered what it's like backstage at Paris Fashion Week? Well we're here at Costume National and this is the scene:

So what's the deal beauty-wise? Paul Hanlon (aka. fashion week's resident hair mastermind) is working his magic again on the models. 'The hair's a bit 50's a bit teddy boy, and slightly masculine,' he revealed. ‘We wanted a rock'n'roll girl.' So it makes sense that the hair had a quiffy front and undercut feeling; tight on the sides and left natural at the back. 'It's a bit Grace Jones on the top as it's high and square and the flat sides contrast with that.' The models have a dirty, couple of days old hair look too, which Paul created by using Bumble and Bumble Sumo Wax on the roots and running his fingers through the top to leave the grain. Then Bumble and Bumble's leave-in conditioner was blow dried through with a comb and at the ends L'Oreal Professional Techni.art Sublime Shine hair mix was run through to take out any fluffiness. If that sounds complicated, trust in Paul's secret simple too. Claire's Accessories Hair Hoops! ‘They're about £1 and they simply tighten the half pony to the head and take any volume out.'
