Backstage at Richard Nicholl, James Rowe for L'Oreal Professional techni.art couldn't stop raving about Claire's Accessories' 'pony tail looper' which helped him created '1950's swimming pool hair'. After rope braiding the hair, he used the hair wand to finish the look by pulling the braided pony back on itself using the loop. Hmmm, we seem to remember using one at school for perfect ponys... Time to backtrack perhaps?!
It was almost as if we followed the Creative Nail Design Team from show to show (they were clearly doing as many as us!) and each time they had a new technique or challenge to take on. At Erdem, Liza Smith created a custom blend colour Lighten Up. The colour was meant to be soft and pretty but with a techno edge so Liza made the model's nails super matte by none other than mixing matte make-up powder into the polish to dull it down. Genius!
At MeadhamKirchhoff, James Pecis used a simple toothbrush sprayed with hairspray to smooth down any stray hair as the 'dragged back' hair need to be polished and slick. James called the look 'Amish chic' with the strict centre parting and low nape ponytail. We just loved...
Meanwhile, the most bizarre backstage beauty we came across: Louise Goldin wanted the hair to reflect the flesh colours in her collection so Paul Henlon for L'Oreal Professional techni.art used foundation from Charles Fox to paint (literally with a paint brush-decorator style) foundation lightly onto the hair so that it looked slightly 'frosted'. Crazy!
