Animal grooming at Christopher Kane

17 September 2008

What happens to beauty when a collection is inspired by the animal kingdom, with a Planet Of The Apes theme and shoes influenced by dinosaurs and the prehistoric era? That was the challenge at Christopher Kane. So we went backstage to ask the team of experts. Paul Hanlon for L'Oréal Professionnel created the 'Flintstone' style hair. He told us it was clean off the neck to show off the clothes and finger-backcombed into a 'balky, anti-shape bob, a bit like a bad wig!'  The hair had a weathered look as if the models had been out in the rain, but then dried in with lots of product  and pulled out  'a bit like gorilla hair'. The key to the look - should you want to recreate it! - were the two textures: wet at the front to keep the hair tight and drier and looser at the back to keep it looking animal like. Our verdict? The models looked like queens of the stone age! But check out our pictures below and tell us what you think.
