The PPQ Bun-Scarf explained...

15 September 2008

We were as mystified as you when we saw the PPQ models - including Daisy Lowe - waltzing down the catwalk with what look liked handkerchiefs stretched over their buns. So backstage we went to get the inside gen on the new look hair...Duffy, one of Loreal Professional's top stylists who was in charge of hair, told us why  he created the fabric-covered-bun: "Amy [Molyneux] requested loads of jewellery for the show so I knew it would be easier to have hair up. The cloth gives it an ethnic feel, kind of like a headscarf/turban - think Mayfair  girl  meets  the Far East!"

To create the look, Duffy, blasted loreal Techni Art Constructer into hair, scraped it up ultra high and secured the cloth with an elastic.  He then blasted it again with the hairdryer to get whispy ends flowing and soften the look around the face.  Make up artist Athena Skouvakis completed the look with Sheer Radiance Foundation,  Collection 2000 cheek stain and some Magi Length Mascara. "We wanted it to be all about beautiful, flawless skin and less focus on the brows this season," Athena told us  in between frenetically beautifying a never-ending stream of models.   And the finishing touch? 1940s pillar box-red nails. We love. But the bun-scarf we might need some persuading on...
