Luella's ‘gorgeous grannies'

Trust Luella to come up trumps with exquisite hair and make-up at her show this morning. As I went backstage I just couldn't stop taking pictures of the models as they stood around laughing at their equestrian plaits and netting. So what was the inspiration? ‘A modern-day Princess Margaret,' said Hannah Murray, Shu Uemura's head make-up artist, who created the look. Skin was clean and left 'raw' with only a bit of concealer and no foundation. The main event was the bold, red lips draw on with Shu Uemura's lip pencil in 192, which gave the girls defined, matte lips. The hair was created by catwalk hair guru Guido (although he was absent from the show) and it was fabulous. Based on 'equestrian' ponytails and plaits, it was prepared exactly like a horse's mane - once bound with elastic, texture was built up using thickening spray! The hair was then backcombed into a high quiff on top, and jewels, bows and netting were neatly placed in it. Luella looked totally calm as the madness happened around her. But why wouldn't she? The hair and make-up looks balanced out the bright colours in the clothes and, from what I could hear when we were leaving the venue, FROWs were just as excited about the hair and make-up as they were the clothes. Are you loving it too? Check out our exclusive backstage pictures and tell us below.

UPDATE: Nail maestro Marian Newman spilled on her work backstage. 'What a pretty collection!! All pinks, oranges, purples and lilac all mixed together. The girls looked like pretty little dolls. Not so exciting from our point of view as the nails were bare and some girls were wearing gloves but the complete bare nails fitted with pretty dolly look and the gloves made them almost prim. Completely bare nails do actually take a bit of work in that the need to be in perfect condition so a bit of oil nd a white pencil and they're done!'
