Now that New York Fashion Week is well under way, (we're two hours and 37 minutes in - where have you been people?) we're obsessed with all things related to the Big Apple. Luckily for us, we just bumped into uber make up artist, Wendy Rowe, who's worked at Prada, Guerlain, Burberry and Hermes and counts Kate Moss, Keira Knightley and Mischa Barton among her clients - and persuaded her to give us her top backstage beauty tip...

Apparently, the insider secret to creating a flawless complexion on models, (even when they've been out partying until the wee hours) is the Alcone Non Latex Make-Up Sponges ($2.50). Every season, Wendy makes a pre-Fashion Week dash to the nearest NYC drugstore to stock up on these genius sponges, that unlike you're average sponge, are water-based so don't become all dry and crumbly after you've used them a few times. Wendy is so addicted to them that she swears they make foundation look 100 times more flawless and glowing! Unfortunately, they're only available in the US - looks like we'll have to make a quick trip to New York then...
