Just checked the weather forecast for New York and it’s freezing. It’s snowing tomorrow when I fly and sits around 2 degrees until it snows again on Tuesday. So I have been looking at my suitcase and wondering just how much thick wool and sheepskin I can squeeze in there.
This is the best I have been able to do.

SUNDAY
First show is Victoria Beckam. You wouldn’t catch her in flats and sweaters even in blizzard conditions so I’ll make an effort. It’ll be my Acne leather skirt and cashmere sweater with the Theory furry collar and MaxMara high heeled boots plus Comme Des Garcons bag. The layers are all loose so I can fit multiple pairs of thick tights and vests under that lot and no one but me would be any the wiser. That’s the key to sub zero styling.

MONDAY
It’s Marc Jacobs day which is a late one with a sprint to the hotel to edit pix and file a report afterwards. Need to be dressed for a speedy dash down slippery pavements. Going for Vanessa Bruno cords (love winter white), Pringle cashmere sweater and Theory furry collar and biker boots.

TUESDAY
A day of back to back shows (Tory Burch, Rodarte, Diesel, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Oscar De La Renta) and a party given by one of the blogs I consider essential reading (The Business Of Fashion). Will try and do a day to evening look even though snow is forecast. Adore this Proenza Schouler blouse and will wear it with Stella Mc Cartney black skinny trousers and my Ralph Lauren bag and hope it all looks convincingly chic after 9 hours under a huge coat.

WEDNESDAY
The temperature is supposed to rise today (a bit), so I am going to break out the Roland Mouret. This felted wool midi length skirt can find its own way into my suitcase by now – it has become an essential fashion week item. I’m working it with a Uniqlo argyle knit, my Roger Vivier necklace and those trusty MaxMara boots.

THURSDAY
Will do Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein before hoofing it to the airport for the 6pm flight. So I need to dress for some of the most important NY shows and for the plane. Now there’s a style challenge they don’t do on Gok! I am going for Ralph Lauren motocross leggings (I know they sound weird but they work). Am wearing those with my Zara black and white bomber and Theory biker boots. It’ll deliver a bit of catwalk side attitude and then I can curl up on the plane. Should do the trick.

EVERY DAY
I suspect it almost doesn’t matter what any of us will be wearing this week because anyone out and about on the streets of NY in the snow looks like some kid of yeti. My daily top layer will be my Moncler padded jacket with my curly lamb gilet by Tory Burch and furry hat by Anya Hindmarch. I may look like the abominable snowman but I will feel good knowing the details underneath are good.
