Heaven is the invitation that I have here in my hot little hand (feverish from fashion flu after non-stop travelling and weeks of doing hard time at the coal face of beauty). It has been suggested that I might want to be a Gucci guinea pig. I have to submit myself to trial by luxury leather goods. And here is where I need your help, Grazia Girls. Because, faced with a choice I have come over indecisive, like the twitchiest lab rabbit ever.
On the 11th November, Gucci Bond St will host artisans from the famous factory in Florence who, for a limited time only, will be beavering away on site. You’ll be able to watch them work the bamboo and the hand-stitching and finishing of famous Gucci bags such as the New Jackie and the G Wave. You can even get them to put your initials in your new bag and finish it to your own individual spec.
I don’t know about you, but I am a sucker for a man working in leather. I could sit watching fabulous bags come into being until there were no more cows.
In order to fully experience the Gucci artisan moment, I have been asked to choose between two bags and here is where I find myself curiously incapacitated. Would you go for the cream leather with the divine bamboo tassels (which I fear I’d have covered in inky smudges on its first trip out) or the terracotta version that feels more downtown with its funky top-stitching?
This, is, I suspect, a never-to-be-repeated experience. Unable to phone a friend or go 50-50, I am leaving it up to you Grazia Girls. The decision has to be made by the 22nd October. What would you choose?
