Tiffany's Cameo rings
I have a feeling that there is a cameo thing going on. I have two of my mother’s cameo brooches tucked away in a velvet box. They’ve been there for years. But for some reason, recently, I keep getting drawn back to look at them again. Just to give you a sense of scale, the small one is a bit bigger than a 50p piece. And every time I see it, I see her face, the grey sweater and the silk scarf she always wore it with. Emotional!
I’ve tried both as a brooch, worn separately and together, on a dress, on a blouse, on a sweater, on a tailored jacket, on a denim jacket. I can’t make them work. They make me feel old. I am just not as well groomed as my mother was and in her brooches I am six again, stomping around in her shoes! So after every styling session they go back in their velvet box.
Then, last week, the team went to the presentation of the new Tiffany jewellery collection and pride of place in a glass display case went to these cameo rings. There is something in this, I tell you. The cameo comeback is upon us. I still need to figure out what to do with mine. I’m thinking maybe I should turn them into rings. What do you think?
