Style Hunter can’t resist the knit

Frankie Philo Clenine car jumper

It’s an unwavering obsession of mine that peaks around this time every year. I’ve always always been more into jumpers, cardigans, sweaters and knitted dresses than I ever can or will be about something summery and light.  In fact, some of my top all-time all-year-round brands are knitwear based – Missoni and Sonia Rykiel for starters! And as this season is all about the ‘it’ knit you can imagine my happiness as they stormed the A/W’11 shows back in February. Then came the lovely surprise when I went for a breakfast meeting with the lovely Frankie Philo of IPR soon after.  I took this picture of her over six months ago knowing that there’d come a time when I’d want to flag up the brilliance of her Celine novelty colourful car knit. You may scoff at the word novel when it comes with such a hefty price tag, but Givenchy’s panther pieces and Balenciaga’s Alsatian jumper have both sold like high-fashion hot-cakes this season. Markus Lupfer’s menagerie of knitwear has been a fash ed favourite for some time and fun Fair Isles are flying outta stores faster you can say ‘knit one, purl one’. But how to wear them? Well, I’ve tracked down some rather cosy-cool sweater wearers for inspiration…

Frankie and her Celine; Vroom, vroom! Which she has teamed with a cute pair of shorts from Rika and a mismatching leopard shopper – also from Celine. Now there’s a wardrobe we’d like to raid…. (pic and top pic by me on Olympus XZ1)

 Hedvig in a burgundy jumper

Hedvig Opshaug (aka my favourite new blogger-with-style) of The Northern Light makes this cranberry red Zara chunky knit look trés chic with her loose-fit skinny jeans and those covetable Celine pumps. (pic from her blog)

Josephine de la baume in a big jumper

This is a really old fashion week pic from a gazillion years ago. Recognise the girl? It’s Josephine de la Baume/slash/Ronson! Love how she’s balanced out that mega jumper with skinny jeans.  (pics by Vicki Adamson/ASP)

 Ebba Zingmark

Blogger Ebba Zingmark should be awarded with our Queen of Knitwear mantle. Well, the climate in Sweden obviously helps these girls out. I should considering relocating… Phil? Kirsty? HELP! (pic from her blog)

Leaf Greener in Carven

I’ve been lusting after this Carven jumper for yonks. Seeing it in kooky action in Paris was a pleasure. And this girl is called Leaf Greener – how ace? (Pic by Vicki Adamson/ASP)
