UGH. Isn’t this weather just horr-en-dous? Style Hunter (ever the optimist) was soaked-through the other night – right down to her BRAND NEW tan leather sandals. They’re still dripping somewhere at home as you read this. But on a plus note, we do know a girl who has enough style nous to breeze her way through this bizarrely unpredictable season… It’s My-Wardrobe.com’s online presenter, Antonia O’Brien, 24. After all, there’s absolutely no excuse for the lovely My-W workers to look anything but perfect - they ping out an email each week full of fashion saviours related to the (often grim) forecast ahead. From a hot summer’s day down ‘pub to brightening up grey mornings, Miss O’Brien’s looking good…
Outfit 1: The ‘It’s sunny but not-so-hot’ kinda day.
If rain isn’t forecast (and you feel confident in that) then we think a maxi skirt and covered-up top is a very good combination. Antonia’s favourite maxi (it was a birthday pressie from Zara), looks classically chic with a red Breton from COS. She fashions it up a peg or two with Terry de Havilland wedges, an Anthon Heunis necklace and Mulberry’s ‘Tillie’ bag.
Outfit 2: The ‘It's grey but my wardrobe ain’t dull’ day.
This is pure closet combat. Who cares if London’s looking duller than a bucket of mud, a pair of fluro trousers (like Antonia’s amazoid Sportmax ones) will instantly cheer you and every onlooker up! Her snake-print shirt is a great nod to one of this season’s biggest print trends and I’m pleased to see the tough styling (hard silver jewellery, buttoned up shirt, rubbed soled Camilla Skovgaards) in contrast to floaty chiffon fabrics.
Outfit 3: The ‘Hot hot hot! Time for short shorts, but I’m not on holiday’ day.
Leather shorts are quite a raunchy option for a day in the city, but Antonia knows that a dash of denim from her vintage patch-work shirt will bring her Doma shorts right back into casual territory. She’ll glam it up for the evening with these second hand Sergio Rossis (‘They reminded me of Kate Moss when I was 18, so I bought them!’)
Outfit 4: The ‘I’m doing bare-legs even if I’m cold’ day.
We love a bold print or two and so does Antonia. She’s not afraid to colour block this See by Chloe skirt with a red vintage blouse. Accents of black and gold ground this look as a smart day-wear option.
Outfit 5: The ‘Ok, I give in; I’ll wear a leeetle bit of outerwear’ day.
This is a great boardroom look. Antonia bought this sleeveless jacket from Vanessa Bruno with her first ever paycheck and it’s definitely a wise buy – a classic piece of tailoring like this will last forever. She’s made it 2011-worthy by belting it up over a printed midi dress from H&M, adding a vintage Jaeger clutch bag and some wear-me-everywhere sandals from Belle by Sigerson Morrison.
