This past weekend Style Hunter spent three very sunny days on the search for fashion-loving girls attending Vintage Festival at London's Southbank (it’s the same event set up by fashion designer Wayne Hemingway that debuted at Goodwood last year but now in central London!). It'd be rude not to do a spot of shopping, get stuck into a tea dance or two and make the most of the free Häagen-Dazs, but, Style Hunter was there for a purpose – and that was to snap as many stylish ladies in their most treasured of outfits. So, where fashion week is a pedestrianized catwalk for all that’s new and hip, you’ll find that Vintage festival attracts the die-hard retro crowd whose outfits all tell a tale - and not necessarily a trend. We photographed 79 (yes, 79!) ladies but we’ve whittled them down to our top 10…
Stylist and fashion writer, Zoe Robinson, 31, found her amazing ‘50s frock on eBay. Her petticoat and string of pearls really make this oh-so-retro. Betty Draper eat yer heart out.
Stepping back in time to the seventies is Helen Adderley, 29, with her fantastic flares and matching crop top from her own Vintage stall, Dusty and Dylan. And that fringed waistcoat is soo Cavalli, non?
Tiffany Anne Tondut, 30, is rocking the most gorgeous colour palette – her green handmade vintage jacket looks dreamy with floral palazzo pants from Dorothy Perkins. Gorgeous!
Ella Beech, 34, has lopped off the hem of Whistles’ skirt of the moment. She’s given it a spin with a floral cardigan, patent sandals and a second hand bag. And, clever girl, she’s accessorized with a copy of Grazia!
The rose print on 25 year old Sophie Wood’s fantastic frock is to die for! We like how she’s kept it really simple with black pumps, a ladylike handbag and a glint of gold from her statement earrings.
The pretty print of Melissa Wright’s H&M jumpsuit looks even more exciting when teamed with the fascinator she bought in Spitalfields, starry earrings from Primark and mini Gucci x-body bag.
DJ Lady Kamikaze looked so chic dressed up in this sailor-girl outfit. The elegant neckline of her vintage top and flattering cut of her ‘40s style pants recall the old-fashioned Hollywood glamour of Marlene Dietrich.
Georgina-Kate Adams, 24, wowed us at last year’s Vintage at Goodwood in a very Twiggy get-up, but we like her ‘70s hippy look this year even more. Her bag was made by her uncle back in ’72. What an heirloom piece!
How could you not fall in love with cute Kathy Li, 23? Her Topshop polka dot dress is right on the fashion money but a headscarf, frilly socks and satchel bag make it a geek-chic treat.
You know we love a good maxi dress. Natalie Hand, 29, opts for summer black in this vintage dress and Marks and Spencers hat. Her yellow cocktail ring and red locks brighten the look up no end.
