Style Hunter meets Annabu

06 April 2011

So, here’s my first real Style Hunter blog entry. Yikes. Well you’ll be pleased to know I’ve successfully switched my Olympus XZ-1 camera on (it was touch and go for a while) and I can now reveal my first closet confidential candidate. Dear users, let me introduce the adorable Annabu. Bu (as she’s known to her friends) is 23, a model and fine artist and proper lovely gal. She kindly let me ransack her wardrobe last Saturday during her brief stay Londontown in between a visit to her homeland Germany and Vancouver - where she’ll soon be headed for further art studies.

Bu’s eclectic styling first caught my eye on her blog  where she was, quite simply, buing her own thing when it comes to bonkers clothing combinations and colour mash-ups. Added to that, I’ve always been drawn to girls who can carry off a killer boyish crop – I once tried the Natalie Imbruglia chop circa 2004, needless to say, it didn’t end well. And  I spent hours staring at Agyness Deyn when I first met her, she truly is angelic face to face. Anyways, Bu, who is ever the travelling bohemian (the scroll tattoo ‘Amor Fati’ on her shoulder says it all), has a very precise (and impressively) well packed wardrobe. She’ll pick up pieces along the way (H&M is her current High St go-to whilst vintage store Wastelands in L.A. could have her trawling for hours/days) so it’s no surprise that her wardrobe at home sounds like quite a tardis. Feast your eyes on this little selection. One day we’ll get to the tardis…

Outfit 1: “This dress cost me one euro!”

Dress, thrift store. Tights, H&M. Brogues, Asos.

Annabu’s fruit cocktail of a shift dress perfectly sums up her clash-and-go style – it’s no wonder she counts Susie Bubble as one of her style influencers.

Outfit 2: “My friends say this looks like an emergency warden’s jumper because it’s SO bright, but hey!”

Jumper, Beyond Retro. Socks, American Apparel. Everything else is vintage.

This picture was taken in the tres grand foyer of Annabu’s model apartment. I also just loved this combination of prints and colours from Bu’s closet.

Outfit 3: “I love bright colours – especially orange - you’ll never find me in a black outfit.”

Top, H&M. Maxi skirt, vintage. Shoes, Vagabond.

Bu’s flatforms are great – I loved how she kept on her OTK socks from the previous outfit underneath. Why not?

Outfit 4: “Practically all my shoes are Acne but I found these in the Topshop sale and just had to have them!”

Cropped jumper, H&M. Trousers, Primark. Shoes, Topshop.

Bu fought her way through Primark to get her hands on these pretty palazzos. See you there!
