The Fash Bride: Devil Is In The Detail!

20 March 2012

There might still be plenty of essential elements still to organise for the big day but for me, it's the detail of the day that's keeping me up at night.  I wouldn't call myself a perfectionist but the wedding day has made me realise that yes, perfection is important and detail is everything.  Especially when it comes to make-up, hair and beauty grooming for the big day and right now, the detail that's really on my mind is what nail shade to wear.

Always one to experiment when it comes to painting my nails, I didn't want my wedding day to be any different.  However, looking bridal leaves you with few options-stay safe and stick to pretty in offensive pink or go for something less obvious and really set that white dress off in style.

Dior's Pink Boa, Red Royalty and Ivory Rose

Getting married in church has played a part in many aspects of 'the look'.   Nothing too risqué or daring or anything alarming that may raise Reverend Allsop's brow when I reach the altar and there have been brow raising incidents we've been told!  So with that in mind, the subject of nail polish has really plagued me. My heart tells me pillar box red whereas my head tells me classic bridal pink.  Both shades stand the test of time, they're in that 'exclusive' club.  They don't belong to a trend but a hall of shade fame so I know that whatever I chose, both will look as good 40 years on as they do on the day.  So which shade should I say 'I do' with?  I've narrowed it down to three shades, Dior's Red Royalty, Ivory Rose and Pink Boa, all classics and I love them all.  Let me know what you think is appropriate for the big day.  Should I go against tradition and go with the red?  Should I take inspiration from Kate Middleton and go with a ultra chic, flattering pale pink?  I'd love to hear your thoughts!
